psat/nmsqt

Attention 10th & 11th grade families!

We will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT to 10th and 11th graders on Wednesday, October 16th. The PSAT/NMSQT is an exam that allows juniors to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. For sophomores, this would be a chance to see the exam before taking it with the hopes of qualifying for the scholarship program during their junior year. The exam consists of a Reading Test, Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test. The PSAT/NMSQT is designed for high achieving students who plan to pursue a future at a four-year institution upon graduation.

For more information, please visit https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt/whats-on-the-test.

TO REGISTER YOUR STUDENT:

1.  Let your student’s school counselor know. Please send us an email if you are planning to have your student complete the exam.

2. The cost of the exam is $18. You can make checks payable to RCHS, and include “PSAT/NMSQT 2024” in the memo line. All money must be turned in to Mason Swenson in the high school office. Students need to turn in the money and then wait for a receipt. Mason will also be keeping a list of students who have paid.

Both of these items must be completed by no later than Wednesday, August 28th. This is a hard deadline, and we will not be able to allow students to test if we do not have both of those items completed by this date.

Additionally, if your student needs accommodations for this exam, you must contact your student’s counselor by Tuesday, August 20th. If you do not contact your student’s counselor prior to this date your student will NOT be allowed to test with accommodations.

If you have any additional questions about this exam or if your student should be taking the exam, please let one of us know!

Thanks!
